30 Day Challenge

I had a late start to my morning routine this morning, but nonetheless, I got it done. I’ve been doing an Anxiety course on Headspace (meditation app) the last couple of days. I’ve never been a fan of taking medication for things that the body naturally experiences. I feel (and have proven to myself) that there’s a better way; physical health. I don’t think most people realize that things, such as, depression, anxiety, etc can be cured by having better control of your mind and working out. If I’m having a down day, a hard workout fixes it. If I’m feeling really anxious, nothing like a hard fight in Jiu Jitsu will instantly take my mind off of it and fix it.

Through daily repetition, you can change the way your mind thinks and how your body looks. This is a scientific fact. But it’s not easy and is always a work in progress, if you make it a priority.

A few months ago I did a 30 day challenge (my first time) with Yoga. Every single day, for 30 days, I did yoga for an hour to 1.5 hours. Prior to this, I’ve never done yoga before. After doing it for a couple weeks, I really started feeling the benefits. Because I’m always doing physical activity such as Jiu Jitsu and working out, I’m pretty in tune with my body. Yoga increased my flexibility and reduced injuries. After my 30 day challenge, I started traveling, so haven’t been back since. But soon I’ll be going back for a few times a week. It really lines up well with meditation, too.

I’m a competitive person, so things like 30-day challenges really keep my inspired and challenged. I’ve decided that I’m going to do more of them regularly. I’ll be incorporating the progress and results here on this blog as I do them. I’m not exactly sure what I’ll be doing next, but I’m thinking I may do a 100 pushup challenge. I wouldn’t mind getting to the point where I could do 100 consecutive pushups. It’s definitely not easy! I think the most I can do now is around 55 or 60. I’ll come up with something soon and report back.

Thanks and hope your weekend was great!
